Onward Christian soldiers marching as to war

Why We Are Running Out of Time

Short term: Democratic Party is working to take control of Congress in the 2020 election. We Christians have less than eleven months to take effective action.

Long term: The Islam and Muslim population is now is challenging the Christian Evangelical population – and it is growing faster year by year.

Short Term – The Odds Might be Getting Against Us

While 70% of Republicans believe in God, only 45 % of Democrats believe in God. (1)

A Democratic Party victory would mean control of Congress leading to erosion of Christian freedoms. Just one example is the ‘Equality Act’ passed in the U.S. House of Representatives (HR 5 – May, 2019) now ordering discrimination against the LGBTQ community as unlawful. The voting in the House was:

Republicans                       Democrats                         Total

Yes  8                                  Yes  228                              Yes  236

No  173                              No     0                                 No   173

In the future, Democratic control of the House and Senate means that the full act will become Federal Law in 2021 further removing religious freedoms from our American pastors.

Major other powerful forces have a tight grip on our culture including the national media, Silicon Valley, the Deep State, and other major organizations such as:

National Center for Science and Education (NCSE)

1904 Franklin Street, Suite 600, Oakland, CA 94603

info@ncse             1-510-601-7203

It fights to continue evolution curriculums and against “anti-science” creationist teaching in public schools. “NCSE works with teachers, parents, scientists, and concerned citizens at the local, state, and national levels to insure that topics including evolution and climate change are taught accurately, honestly, and confidently.”

American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU)

125 Broad Street, 18th Floor, New York, NY 10004

Aclu.org                  1-212-549-2500

“For almost 100 years, the ACLU (now with 1,200,000 members) has worked to defend and preserve the individual rights and liberties guaranteed by the Constitution and laws of the United States.” It supports immigration rights, reproductive freedom, same sex marriage, and curbing school sponsored prayer.

National Education Association (NEA)

1201 16th Street, NW, Washington, DC 20036-3290

Nea.org                     1-202-833-4000

The nation’s largest labor union represents 3,000,000 educators. It discourages school vouchers and charter schools and discrimination of same sex couples. Also, it supports the Democratic Parties legislation and has sent $93 million of campaign funding to Democratic Party candidates.

American Federation of Teachers (AFT)

555 New Jersey Ave., NW, Washington, DC 20001

Aft.org                          1-202-879-4400

It is the second largest teacher’s union in America. It advocates community engagement, organizing, collective bargaining, and political activism against charter schools. Also, it supports DACA and those undocumented, the LGBTQ community and evolution teaching in science classes.

What Silicon Valley, Liberal Media, Facebook, and Twitter Could Do

It is a lot, but still basically unknown. Here is a quote from an article “What Facebook Did to Our Democracy”:

In late 2014, ‘The Daily Dot’ called attention to an obscure Facebook-produced case study on how strategists defeated a statewide measure in Florida by relentlessly focusing Facebook ads on Broward and Dade counties, Democratic strongholds. Working with a tiny budget that would allow them to send a single mailer to just 150,000 households, the digital-advertising firm Chong and Koster was able to obtain remarkable results. “Where the Facebook ads appeared, we did almost 20 percentage points better than where they didn’t,” testified a leader of the firm. “Within that area, the people who saw the ads were 17 percent more likely to vote our way than the people who didn’t. Within that group, the people who voted the way we wanted them to, when asked why, often cited the messages they learned from the Facebook ads.” (2)

Of note: Millennials are often targeted by Democratic social media in their ‘Get out the Vote’ campaigns, because 57% (3) don’t believe in the Bible and 70% (4) don’t believe that Democracy is essential for our county. They lean Democratic.

Now is the time for a Republican ‘Get out the Vote Campaign’ such as the 2016 “Decision America Tour. Let’s see if we can get one going.

The Long Term

The Muslim population is growing faster than the Christian population and is getting stronger every year. The tabulation, below, is abbreviated, and is in millions.

Population – Two Groups Past Growth in the World (5)

             Groups                          1949     2019     Increase     % Increase

     Christian Protestant             141       668         527             374%

     Muslims, Sunni Islam             54       1,521      1,467         2,717%

Population – Two Groups Predicted Growth in North America (6)

Groups                          2010       2050       Increase     % Increase    Yearly avg.

      Christians                             266         286            20               7.5%             0.2 % / yr.

      Muslims                                 3.5         10.3           6.8             194.3%         2.8 % / yr.

Prospects for freedom of Christianity in the United States is on the downtrend, especially if and as Muslims soon achieve more power in the society and in the United States legislature.

Views from a Global Survey of Evangelical Protestant Leaders

U.S. evangelical leaders are especially downbeat about the prospects for evangelical Christianity in their society. 82% (7) say they are losing influence in the United States today. Note the population statistics shown on the previous page.

71% (8) say the influences of secularism (atheism) and emphasis of consumerism are major threats to Christianity today and in the future. (Millennials would rather make purchases and enjoy life rather than spend their money on families and children.) The birth rate in the U.S. is at or below the so called “replacement rate.”

No wonder we are falling behind.

Views on the theory of evolution. It’s about 50 – 50:

47% reject the theory of evolution; 41 % believe in Theistic Evolution where God had a small part in evolution for creating humans; 3% believe in human evolution by purely natural processes; and 9% have no opinion. (9)

While evangelical leaders say they feel they should participate in politics in our country, only 56% (10) say they should take a public stand when they conflict with moral and biblical principles.

Some of the percentages above seem rather low where they should be higher. Again, Christians as a group would often appear quiet and apathetic, while Islamists and Muslims seem more focused and aggressive in their views and actions.

Some Conclusions

Cal Thomas in his book titled “Book Burning” wrote: (11)

Our greatest enemy is the apathy of people of faith. We say we believe certain things. We memorize hundreds of Bible verses. We attend church three times a week. But we live as practical atheists. Do we write letters to the editor to express our viewpoints? Do we attend public school board meetings and voice our concerns? No. Secular Humanism isn’t the enemy. We are. We could use a little less noise about the evil Secular Humanists and a lot more involvement by our own people in our own country.

As our old comic strip friend Pogo once observed,

“We have met the enemy and he is US.”

We all have some actions to do!

You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on it on its stand, and it gives off light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven. Matthew 5:14-16
